A former primary ICT teacher/advisor and now a successful Educational Technology Consultant and Trainer. I am passionate about moving technology to the forefront of teaching and learning.
I am bilingual and hold a Masters Degree, PGCE Post16, combined with over 18 years teaching experience both in Primary and Tertiary Education. I am a Welsh Government Accredited HWB trainer, Apple Certified Teacher, Apple Swift Playgrounds Certified Teacher, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Google Certified Educator, a Just2Easy Accredited Trainer, A Speakr Accredited Trainer, A Book Creator Ambassador, A Seesaw Ambassador, ASD Aware Certified Practitioner, Arts Council of Wales Accredited Creative Practioner, an Associate Trainer for Just2Easy, a SWGFL 360 Safe Consultant and have expertise in the Assessment Foundation Incerts online analysis tool.
I have been involved with implementing cross county ICT initiatives for a number of years and also been a member of the ICT advisory team. I was an instrumental part of the team on the design, implementation and training on the new Local Authority hosted websites. I have introduced and lead lesson studies to improve teaching and learning, within and beyond the Local Authority.
Staff training has always been a central part of my role and in recent years I have been heavily involved in training staff across the local consortia. In my previous schools most recent inspection (2013) we achieved "Excellent for Standards in ICT" and was commended on my sector leading practice delivered across the school and beyond.
Parental engagement has always been important to me since the start of my teaching career. In 2011, I was instrumental in starting the first ever Learn Direct Centre, based in a primary school, where parents and children alike could learn in the same building to reach their potential, making it a true lifelong learning experience for all.
In April 2013, I was a guest speaker in the Raising School Standards Wales Conference in Cardiff focusing on "The use of digital technology to raise school standards, engaging the harder to reach learner”. I was also invited to be a guest speaker in the Apple UK conference in the Summer RTC event 2013 in Scotland focusing on “Creative Solutions” and again in the Summer RTC event 2015 in Birmingham focusing on “Closing the Gap”. In January 2016 I was invited to be a guest Speaker at the Connected World Summit of AI in BFI Southbank in London. In 2017 I was invited as guest speaker in The Technology Summit & Conference in Scotland Moving Forward with Technology.
During the summer of 2017 I was commissioned by Tinpolis Interactive to map levels on a welsh coding app called "Botio" to the new digital curriculum. Users help programme BOT to solve tasks, and they are also learning key coding skills, in a fun and engaging way. This was then released by Welsh Government as a free download on both the App Store and Android App Store.
I hope this gives you a little insight into what makes me tick!
